Sejarah banyak benda yang kita tak tahu!!

Salam semua,

semenjak setahun yang lepas banyak info yang saya terima mengenai sejarah nusantara (Tanah Melayu, Indonesia, Thailand, Filipina dan Borneo)...info mengenai kedatangan Islam di nusantara....

Namun info2 itu masih perlu saya kumpulkan sebelum saya boleh tuliskan dalam bog saya ini dan saya juga telah betulkan tulisan saya dalam When Islam meets China....

Maka misi saya waktu summer ini mencari sebanyak maklumat yang mungkin utk cuba diterjemahkan dalam tulisan =)

InsyaAllah 2 minggu lagi exam....doakan saya =)

End of Semester

Finally its the end of semester which was marked by the last exam on Thursday =)

I know, I know, I haven't been updating my blog for ages.

I dunno why but it seems I had this writer's block and well =P sort of lazy to write anything

Hopefully my writing skill not going down to the garbage huhuhuhu

Onegai!!!

The exam for this semester quite tough from my point of view.

Well that's pretty scary you know.

To think about the exam now...gonna get a goosebumps

aish shinchah...

Hopefully everything will go well insyaAllah! =D

Well this month is suppose to be special even though its exam's period

U know WHY????

Watashi no tanjyoubi!! Yay!!! (err...sorry2....its my birthday!!!!)

kedo, I'm still reading the exam stuff at strike of 12 am...how sad is that huhu

First of all I would like to thank Allah for His bless and mercy that I am able

to reach 22

and given me prosperity. Alhamdulillah =)

Secondly thank to my Umi (mum) for patiently taking care of me since the 1st

day in her womb until his son become 22 (unfortunately u can't flip the number in order for you

to be young again...aigoo).

Then my abah (dad) who never tired of his son's delinquency and behaviour. Thank you very much =)

My brother and sister, thank you for all the sacrifices that you guys had made for your

oldest brother. Thank you very much.

Ja, thank you to all my friends who wish me....that's really help during the exam =)

And after the exam on thursday, as usual, me and my friends went for after party exam...

lolz...we went for a korean buffet just to celebrate the end of the semester

so happily chatting I went to take more food,

suddenly as I sat down and chatting with one of my friends,

one of them brought out a CAAKKEEEE with a candle

I was astonished and speechless...

That's so nice of them to do that...

My Life - Daily Dose

Salam and hye!!!!!!!

its been a while

and its already 2 weeks of classes.

lotsa lotsa happening....

and I think everything are great for now =)

loves the anatomy practical

dissecting the corpse is amazing (not for everyone - few fainted n nearly fainted)

meets a lot of friends....Malaysian, Arabs, Canadian, Japanese, and Taiwan

starting fencing classes....

did a tryout for archery (guess I love it as well - maybe participate more ^-^)

well in Dublin even though far from home....did some open houses too

attended few of them...

it still felt at home (they did a great job - chefs =D)

just came back from watching movies 11.30 p.m

am so tired for almost 4 hours

but the movies were awesome(aka funny), UP and Zombieland

UP was 3D but the effect just normal 3D

both are funny,

Zombieland is funny - supposed to be comedy-horror

was expecting stupidity in the movie

but the movie's comedy makes sense not just slapstick humour

that's all for now folks

too late now, wanna go to sleep

Salam sudah berhabuk rasanya blog ini setelah lama tidak menulis.

Baiklah, setelah sebulan berpuasa dan seminggu beraya...walaupun lambat saya ingin mengucapkan SELAMAT HARI RAYA maaf zahir batin....

Maaf kerana lambat...kesibukan yang mencengkam diri inilah punca...

Anyway minta maaf jika ada tersalah kata dan terlanjur perbuatan yang menyakitkan hati....sama ada secara tidak sengaja dan sengaja.

Hari ini merupakan hari terakhir di Malaysia setelah tiga bulan setengah di Malaysia. Rasa sedih pun ada.....tapi bersyukur kerana diberikan Allah kesempatan untuk berpuasa penuh dan beraya (w/pun seminggu) di KL. Kepada sesiapa yang tidak sempat diziarahi, saya minta maaf sangat-sangat....insyaAllah tahun depan berkesempatan...tahun depan dapat raya 2 minggu (panjang sikit masa)

Baiklah sampai di sini sahaja coretan di KL....bersambung di Ireland =D

komentar Isu hukuman sebat kepada pesalah minum arak telah menarik perhatian pelbagai pihak untuk memberikan pandangan dan komen masing-masing.

Hukuman yang dirujuk sebagai pelaksanaan hukum Islam di bawah Seksyen 136 Enakmen Pentadbiran Agama Islam dan Adat Resam Melayu Pahang 1982 dan boleh dihukum di bawah Seksyen 4 enakmen sama (pindaan 1987) sebenarnya masih tidak mengikut prinsip syarat hukum Islam yang sebenar.

Di bawah hukum Islam, kesalahan meminum arak adalah diletakkan di bawah hukum hudud, iaitu satu hukum yang dinaskan mengikut Al-Quran dan hadis Rasulullah SAW.

Apabila asasnya adalah nas, maka ia adalah aspek agama Islam yang wajib untuk dilaksanakan kepada penganutnya – kerana ia berkait dengan tanggungjawab antara manusia dengan Tuhan, antara dosa pahala serta pembalasan di hari akhirat.

Jika bersandarkan kepada nas, maka hukuman ke atas peminum arak untuk penganut Islam setelah sabit kesalahan ialah sebatan antara 40 hingga 80 rotan jumlahnya.

Apa yang paling penting untuk difahami ialah cara sebatan yang dilaksanakan di dalam penjara sekarang adalah sangat berbeza dengan kaedah sebenar hukum Islam, kerana mengikut Islam sebatan ini perlu mengambil kira keadaan dan kesihatan pesalah, selain dari memastikan pesalah dalam keadaan sepenuhnya berpakaian menutup aurat.

Alat sebatan dan kaedah merotan hendaklah juga sederhana, antaranya bila sebatan dilaksanakan tangan tidak boleh diangkat sehingga menampakkan ketiak.

Sebatan juga tidak boleh sampai mencederakan, dan sebatan dilakukan di beberapa tempat pada badan dan bukannya pada satu tempat sahaja.

Dalam Islam, hukuman ini bukan bersifat untuk menyeksa tetapi bersifat mendidik pelaku kesalahan serta mendidik masyarakat awam supaya gerun untuk melakukan perbuatan itu lagi.

Aspek pencegahan inilah yang perlu ada dalam melaksanakan hukuman dalam undang-undang Islam. Ia memerlukan pindaan supaya proses undang-undang Islam yang adil dapat dilaksanakan.

Oleh yang demikian, kita meminta supaya pihak berkuasa tidak gopoh dalam pelaksanaan itu sehingga memberi gambaran salah mengikut syariat Islam.

Dalam masa yang sama kita berharap supaya wanita yang disabitkan itu bertaubat kerana Allah Maha Pengampun dan Penyayang.

Apa yang seharusnya berlaku ialah arak haruslah di haramkan penjualannya secara menyeluruh terlebih dahulu kepada semua orang Islam. Masyarakat dan kerajaan juga perlu dididik supaya faham bahawa arak adalah haram di sisi agama Islam.

Haramnya arak adalah tidak mengira tempat – sama ada restoran kecil atau besar, atau hatta di dalam rumah sendiri.

Menjalankan hukuman terhadap peminum arak tanpa menghapuskan puncanya – adalah seumpama menghadapi nyamuk Aedes dengan menamparnya sahaja, tetapi longkang-longkang dibiarkan berselerak sehingga menjadi tempat pembiakan nyamuk yang membawa denggi!

Selamat Menyambut Ramadhan yang mulia. Alhamdulillah kita berjaya jua sampai ke pusingan Ramadhan yang baru setelah setahun berlalu.

Alhamdulillah juga saya panjatkan kerana pada tahun ini akhirnya saya berpuasa kembali di Malaysia setelah tiga tahun saya berpuasa di negara orang. Bergenang air mata semalam waktu tarawih. Bersyukur sangat2.

Tiga tahun yang banyak mengajar saya erti rindu berpuasa di tanah air sendiri, Malaysia.

Namun tiga tahun merupakan tahun-tahun yang unik bagi saya kerana berbezanya persekitaran yang saya diami ketika itu….

Pertama di Perth

Pada usia 18 tahun saya telah mula belajar berpuasa di luar negara, di Perth Australia, tika saat rakan-rakan sebaya masih lagi di Malaysia.

Tahun itu mengajar saya bagaimana hendak lulus puasa dengan tinggal serumah dengan teman yang bukan beragama Islam. (p/s: 4 Cina, 1 India, dan 3 African)

Dugaan nya sangat besar dengan keadaan negara yang bukan Islam.

Namun toleransi masih dapat dirasakan dan seakan-akan mereka memahami.

Malah mereka membantu untuk mengejutkan sahur. Yelah masa zaman sekolah dulu dah biasa parents kejut….so masalah lah sedikit. Tapi ya mereka membantu jika mereka tidak tidur lagi.

Kedua di Perth

Tahun kedua menyaksikan saya tinggal serumah dengan rakan Melayu Malaysia.

Keadaan agak berbeza kerana sama-sama menyambut Ramadhan.

Di Australia ni tiada masalah sangat kerana ramai Muslim di mana nak solat tarawih tu, masjid sangat hampir. Malah disediakan satu slot di TV untuk Muslim.

Malah berbuka puasa nya sangat meriah. Pak Arab semua sentiasa menyumbang wang untuk menyediakan makanan untuk berbuka puasa. Tapi masalahnya hari-hari lah makan nasi briyani huhuhu =P

Tue yang naik berat badan huhu

Tahun ketiga ini adalah tahun yang paling mencabar bagi saya. Lebih mencabar daripada tahun pertama di Australia.

Berpuasa di Moscow, Rusia.

Saya tiba di Moscow dua hari sebelum puasa, hari sabtu dan kita puasa hari Isnin. Kali ini saya tiba di sebuah negara yang saya tidak kenal mana-mana Muslim. Dan negara yang sangat sedikit Muslim nya.

Malah makanan mentah yang halal tidak mudah untuk dijumpai lebih-lebih anda tidak boleh bertutur dalam bahasa Rusia dengan fasih. Kami pergi ke sana dalam satu kumpulan, 3 India, 3 Cina dan satu Melayu (saya la tue!!)

Pada keesokan harinya kami dibawa oleh senior2 Cina kami membeli-belah di pasaraya ala-ala Carrefour….

Terkulat-kulat la saya ni nak mencari makanan halal…last2 beli roti, keju, dan tuna hancur.

Nak beli ayam tak tahu kat mana yang halal huhuu

Maka sahur dan berbuka lah saya dengan 2-4 keping roti keju berserta Maggi Kari dan 3 in 1 Milo…oh ya plus kurma

Memang bukan setakat berpuasa jer…diet sesungguhnya la…

Yalah kalau puasa kat Malaysia belum tentu turun lagi berat badan tue….sama ada maintain ataupun meningkat ada jugak.

Makan kurma macam makan lauk….adalah sekali makan tue lebih 10 biji…bayangkan sekali makan…kalau berkali-kali makan camna? …

Tauke kurma mesti suka kalau semua orang macam ini.

Tapi nasib baik bawa jugak…kalau tak haru biru jugak la….kurma ni juga lah yang beri tenaga

Owh lupa nak beritahu…ini adalah kali pertama berpuasa waktu musim panas….dulu kat Australia musim sejuk….pendek sikit siang nya

Kali ini puasa mula pukul 3-4 pagi….maghrib pukul 9 malam masa awal-awal tue…

Tapi dalam puasa-puasa tue sempat pusing satu Moscow dalam masa sebulan tue… =D kira boleh la bawa orang jalan2 Moscow hehe (ada sapa-sapa nak ambil saya jadi tourist guide ke? jgn risau bayarannya murah jer hehe =P)

Memang mengajar erti sabar la sangat…

Ada satu peristiwa tue….makan hot potato yang diisi dengan lauk di tengah-tengah nya…orang lain beli makan panas-panas…

Kita makan lepas berbuka…dah lembik dan lebam.. nak menitik air mata ni….

Percaya tak dalam sebulan tue berat badan turun dekat 10 kg jugak…

Hahaha….rasanya panjang sangat la pula membebel nya tapi siapa-siapa yang nak cepat turun berat badan pergi puasa kat Moscow masa summer ni…confirm turun =P

Baiklah kepada saudara seislam saya, selamat bertarawih, bersahur dan berpuasa!

Sempena bulan kemerdekaan kita ini, ramai yang berbicara tentang keperluan untuk mengetahui sejarah negara kita iaitu Malaysia tercinta. Apa kata kita menyelusuri sejarah yang panjang daripada sejarah Malaysia iaitu sejarah Islam. Khulafa al-Rasyidin
• 632M- Kewafatan Nabi Muhammad Sallallahu alaihi wasallam. Saidina Abu Bakar dilantik menjadi khalifah. Usamah ibn Zaid mengetuai ekspedisi ke Syria. Kempen menentang kumpulan murtad iaitu Bani Tamim dan Musailamah al-Kazzab.
• 633M- Pengumpulan Al Quran bermula.
• 634M- Kewafatan Saidina Abu Bakar. Saidina Umar Al-Khatab dilantik menjadi khalifah. Penaklukan Damsyik dan seterusnya kempen meluaskan jajahan Islam di Tanah Parsi
• 635M- Penawanan Madain, ibu kota Empayar Parsi Sassanid.
• 636M- Penaklukan Syria, Mesopotamia, dan Palestin.
• 637M- Mesir ditawan.
• 638M- Penawanan Baitul Maqdis oleh tentera Islam.

• 648M- Pemberontakan menentang pemerintahan Saidina Uthman.
• 656M- Saidina Uthman wafat akibat dibunuh. Saidina Ali Abi Talib dilantik menjadi khalifah. Terjadinya Perang Jamal.
• 657M- Saidina Ali memindahkan pusat pemerintahan daripada Madinah ke Kufah. Perang Siffin meletus.
• 659M- Saidina Ali menawan kembali Hijaz dan Yaman daripada Muawiyah. Muawiyah mengisytiharkan dirinya sebagai khalifah Damsyik.
• 661M- Saidina Ali wafat dibunuh. Tamatnya pemerintahan Khulafa al-Rasyidin. Saidina Hasan (cucu Rasulullah Sallallahu alaihi wasallam) kemudian diangkat sebagai Khalifah ke-5 Umat Islam menggantikan Saidina Ali.
• 661M- Setelah sekitar 6 bulan Khalifah Saidina Hasan memerintah, 2 kelompok besar pasukan Islam yaitu Pasukan Khalifah Saidina Hasan di Kufah dan pasukan Muawiyah di Damsyik telah siap untuk memulai suatu pertempuran besar. Ketika pertempuran hendak berlangsung, Muawiyah kemudian menawarkan rancangan perdamaian kepada Khalifah Hasan yang kemudian dengan pertimbangan persatuan Umat Islam, rancangan perdamaian Muawiyah ini diterima secara bersyarat oleh Khalifah Saidina Hasan dengan kekuasaan khalifah diserahkan oleh Khalifah Hasan kepada Muawiyah. Tahun itu kemudian dikenal dengan nama Tahun Perdamaian/Persatuan Umat (Am Jamaah) dalam sejarah Umat Islam. Sejak saat itu Muawiyah menjadi Khalifah Umat Islam yang kemudian dilanjutkannya dengan sistem Kerajaan Islam yang pertama yaitu pergantian pemimpin (Raja Islam) yang dilakukan secara turun temurun (Daulah Umayyah) dari Daulah Umayyah ini kemudian berlanjut kepada Kerajaan-Kerajaan Islam selanjutnya seperti Daulah Abbasiyah, Fatimiyyah, Usmaniyah dll.

Kerajaan Bani Ummaiyyah
• 661M- Muawiyah menjadi khalifah dan mengasaskan Kerajaan Bani Ummaiyyah.
• 670M- Mara ke Afrika Utara. Penaklukan Kabul.
• 677M- Penawanan Samarkand dan Tirmiz. Serangan ke atas Constantinople.
• 680M- Kematian Muawiyah. Yazid I menaiki takhta. Peristiwa pembunuhan Saidina Hussein.
• 685M- Khalifah Abdul Malik menjadikan Bahasa Arab sebagai bahasa rasmi kerajaan.
• 700M- Kempen menentang kaum Barbar di Afrika Utara.
• 711M- Penaklukan Sepanyol, Sind, dan Transoxiana.
• 712M- Tentera Ummaiyyah mara ke Sepanyol, Sind, dan Transoxiana.

• 752M- Bermulanya Kerajaan Bani Abbasiyyah.
• 755M- Pemberontakan Abdullah bin Ali. Pembunuhan Abu Muslim.
• 756M- Abd ar-Rahman I mengasaskan Kerajaan Bani Ummaiyyah Sepanyol.
• 763M- Penubuhan kota Baghdad. Kekalahan tentera Abbasiyyah di Sepanyol.
• 786M- Harun al-Rashid menjadi Khalifah.
• 792M- Serangan ke atas selatan Perancis.
• 800M- Kaedah sainstifik dicipta. Algebra dicipta oleh Al-Khawarizmi.

When China Meets Islam

Its been a long time since I wrote anything mindful or something heavy….like I wrote on the previous entry….the weeks had been straining mentally and physically….

Okay…I just finished reading the book called Rahsia Islam di China (Secret of Islam in China) written by Ann Wan Seng (Malaysian Chinese Muslim). What is he trying reveal is how Islam had influence the China towards the creation of China today from aspect of culture, social, politics and administration.

First of all, the spreading of Islam was first initiated during the reign of Khula’ Ar-Rasyidhin, Saidina Umar Al-Khattab even though some had suggests that the arrival of Arab Muslims can be as earliest as 618 AD. He sent Saad Abi Waqqas to the Dynasty Tang’s emperor for the emperor to accept Islam as a way of life but the emperor refused to do so. Compared to the Persian and Roman Empire, the China’s Emperor had an open policy. He still allowed the Arab Muslims to live in China and spread Islam to His people. His open policy had helped Islam to spread at an accelerating rate. Plus the relationship through trading had helped as well.

The dynasties after the Tang’s dynasty also put Muslims at higher ranks by giving a lot of land, allowed to build mosques, promoted to high position in administration. The dynasties are Song, Yuan and Ming dynasties. The Muslims were not only been giving opportunity in administration but also helped in forming a new dynasty. Therefore the new dynasty appreciated Muslims community due to their importance in maintaining the longevity of a dynasty.

There many examples of Chinese Muslims that excel and appreciated by the China’s dynast. One of the examples is Admiral Cheng Ho or Zheng He. He is the sea admiral who sailed from China to Africa visiting many place such as Malay Land (present day Indonesia and Malaysia), Siam (present day Thailand), and Mecca.

After the dynasty Ming, Chinese Muslims faced dark ages through the reign of Ching Dynasty (under Manchurian). Ching dynasty applies a strict and oppressive policy towards Muslims. They used divide and conquer policy by creating tension between Muslims and Han (non Muslim’s Chinese). This act still on going until the formation of Republic of China and this even includes during reign of Communists. The oppressive measure is still applied until today.

This book had opened my eyes about the Chinese Muslims in China especially the Uyghur ethnic. Also how the China was not capable of making majestic invention without the help of the Muslims. (Therefore it proved that the Chinese accepted before the Malay Land accepted Islam --> there is still a doubt on this matters)

Just a piece of mind

Its been a long time for me since I wrote anything on this blog....
this 3 weeks had been a busy time and a time that need me to become more endurance and as positive as I can.

The 3 weeks need me to have a physical, mentally and emotionally strong....and I seek strength from Allah to endure the process.

Anyway this 3 weeks is not a progressive week for me...I had not been doing anything lately...

and I do not have any mood to write anything

Guess I am too tired to write anything...

Need strength....

and I NEED SCHOLARSHIP....hahahahaha

p/s: I know what I write now is rubbish...gomen na....i would try to write a better piece next time

Alhamdulillah All Went Well

All Praise to Allah
I just received my result just now
All my exams went well
It such a great moment.
with this result, I am able to enjoy my holiday
until the end of the summer
instead of having to resit my exam if I fail huhu
Now all my sleepless nights since I finished my last
exam on 2009 ６月　８日　（8th June ) has end.

Horray!!!

Anyway two days ago, I saw this interesting movie
called Pay It Forward.

This movie has a great principle that we should apply
if possible.

The movie is about a boy who thinks of a solution call pay
it forward in order to create a better world.

but How?

have you ever heard about multilevel system?
how you sells to many people and then that people sell
to others...because you wants to increase this point...

But this pay it forward is something like multilevel...

all you have to do is to help someone by changing something
that you thought is impossible for them to change....

but then when the people is trying to pay back...all you
have to do is said pay it forward

i.e. tell them to help other 人 instead...

so with this, if you help 三 people, then these 三 people
will help　三 people each and so on...so on...

so its like 3^n equation

thus goodness can be spread all over the world

it does sound like utopian...but hey, its a good thing, so why
not we try?

anyway the main actor is Haly Joel Osment...like the movie
sixth sense he did a great job...plus the other main
characters also plays a great role in presenting this
idea and therefore able to project this idea with a good
insight...

at first the movie was hard to understand due to two
storyline which happened at different places...

then in the middle you starts to grasp the sense of the story
because at first you wouldn't understand the idea of pay it
forward....

so I would highly recommend this movie....it is such a
masterpiece and plus it is adapted from the Novel...

Finally finished reading this book. First to know this book through
Ustaz Hasrizal. First encountered in Dubray Books, Grafton St, Dublin.
Read the paragraph at the back of the book

No view of the modern world is complete without an understanding of Islam. To understand Islam, we must understand Muhammad -as prophet and man.

from this small piece, I already excited to know more what
is her view regarding our Prophet Muhammad.

From my opinion, Karen Armstrong gave a just and equal judgement
regarding our prophet. She did not do it emotionally. She tried
to be as neutral as possible but at the same time defending
our prophet. She did explained the misconception of western towards
our Prophet excellently.

She might have few mistakes due to her position as non-muslim
which she did not understand about 'ghaib' stuffs...But this
did not do justice if we banned this book due to her small errors.

One of her paragraph, she defends the polygamy in Islam
here is the text from page 147,

the quranic institution of polygamy was a piece of social legislation. it was design not to gratify the male sexuality appetite, but to correct the injustices done to widows, orphans, and other female dependent, who were especially vulnerable. Polygamy was designed to ensure that unprotected women would be decently married, and to abolish the old loose, irresponsible liaisons; men could have only four wives and treat them equitably; it was an unjustifiably wicked act to devour their property.

The Quran was attempting to give women a legal status that most western women would not enjoy until the nineteenth century.

Thus, as a reader, I would highly recommend everyone to
read this book. It is an eye opener for everyone. A
different angle and perspective from a non-Muslim.

24 April 03, kami bersiap-siap untuk memulakan perjalanan. Hari ini hari jumaat dan kami akan bersembahyang di al-Aqsa. Kami keluar dari Jacir Palace Hotel di Bethlehm jam 9 pagi.

Ketika semua ahli rombongan masuk ke dalam coster, naik seorang budak berumur lebih kurang 9 tahun. Dia menjual poskad. Dia menjual satu set poskad dengan harga 2 USD.

Beberapa orang dari kami membeli poskad yang dijualnya. Lebih kepada untuk membantu. Setelah membayar, budak ini mula turun dari coster. Saya membelek poskad ini, kesemua poskad yang dijual adalah gambar tempat-tempat suci kristian.

Saya terus memanggil budak ini dan menyatakan,

"Adik, ada tak yang lain, yang ini semua gambar kristian. Takkalah saya nak beli gambar tempat-tempat kristian, kita kan orang Islam."

"Tak ada, ini sahaja yang saya ada", budak ini menjawab.

"Mmm, kalau macam tu tak apa la", kata saya.

Coster mula bergerak. Dalam perjalanan, saya berbual-bual dengan Nasir.

"Mr. Muhammad, saya lupa nak bagitau kami sesuatu"

"Apa dia", Tanya saya

"Di sini, kita takkan kenal mana satu orang Islam mana satu orang kristian. Walaupun nama dia Islam, belum tentu dia Islam" jelas Nasir.

"Orang kristian di sini tak sama dengan orang kristian di tempat lain. Orang kristian di Jerusalem diikat dengan perjanjian Umar dan kami sangat menghormati perjanjian ini" Nasir menambah.

"Orang kristian di sini kebanyakkannya dari bangsa Arab Pelestin juga. Jadi mereka juga ditindas oleh yahudi". Katanya lagi.

Baru saya teringat. Memang sikap orang kristian di sini agak berbeza dengan tempat lain. Mungkin kerana semangat kebangsan Arab itu lebih kuat berbanding dengan semangat kristian yang ada.

Ketika Saidina Umar datang ke Jerusalem untuk membuka kota ini, beliau disambut oleh orang kristian di sini. Mereka menurunkan gambar-gambar pensaliban ketika Saidina Umar diajak melawat gereja-gereja di sini. -bersambung-

Akhirnya semester aku kali ni akan tiba ke penghujungnya...syukur yang tak terhingga...aku akan berjaya menghabiskan tahun pertama aku sebagai pelajar perubatan....

Sekejap sahaja masa berlalu.....dan hampir ke penghujung.....exam pun baru bermula semalam....ada lagi lima exam.....

dan aku pun berjaya mendapatkan tiket untuk balik....seperti mana rakan ku Leokid....aku berjaya dapat tiket balik ke Malaysia melalui London dan Dubai.....

Selamat Hari Ibu! Mother's Day

Seorang ibu yang luar biasa adalah seorang ibu yang melawan. Ibu itu melawan ketidakadilan, melawan arus menentang masyarakat, melawan kejahatan, melawan penganiayaan, melawan penindasan, melawan dengan nilai keibuan dan juga sepenuh kudratnya.

Empat ibu yang diberi penghargaan besar kerana menjadi ibu yang melawan terpapar dalam hadis ini:

‘Sesungguhnya wanita ahli syurga yang paling utama adalah Khadijah binti Khuwailid, Fatimah binti Muhammad saw, Maryam Binti Imran, dan Asiah binti Mazahim.’

Hadis ini dapat ditemui dalam Mustadrak al-Shahihain Jilid 2, halaman 497. Al-Hakim menegaskan hadis ini adalah sahih. Hadis turut diriwayatkan dalam Tafsir al-Durr al Mantsur, Jilid 8, halaman 229.

Kita tahu Maryam jerih melawan masyarakatnya yang korup moral; dia mempertahankan kesucian dan keimanannya seraya bersedia berkorban membawa visi tauhid yang luar biasa.

Perlawanan Maryam berakhir saat ia wafat.

Kita tahu Khadijah cekal melawan tanggapan dalam masyarakat di kemuncak kejahilan; dia mempertahankan suaminya Rasulullah saw dengan harta dan kebangsawanannya sambil meyakini pesan dan wahyu dari langit.

Perlawanan Khadijah usai saat ia wafat.

Kita tahu Asiah terpaksa melawan di tengah penindasan yang sengit; dia terpaksa melakukan taqiyyah dengan menyembunyikan keimanannya daripada suami sendiri demi memastikan seorang utusan Allah membesar padu di bawah peliharaannya.

Perlawanan Asiah berpenghujung saat ia syahid dibunuh Firaun.

Tidak ramai orang yang tahu tentang Fatimah, model ibu yang juga melawan. Fatimah melawan siapa? Apakah perlawanan luar biasa dan tekanan yang harus dihadapinya. Apa perlawanan Fatimah yang mendapat tempat di syurga. Apa kekuatannya setanding Khadijah ibunya, Maryam dan Asiah?

Just having fun

It is a great day today. I volunteer myself for a volunteering program under AMSA (American Medical Students Association). The program is called Health Screening Day. I was already interested when I first received the email from them.

What is this Health Screening Day all about. This is a program in conjunction with the Irish Heart Foundation (IHF) and Boots Pharmacy.

The aim is to provide the public with blood pressure screening and glucose testing, as well as raise awareness about the importance of normal blood pressure and diet as a factor in preventing heart attacks.

So yeah I have to do a blood pressure and glucose testing check up. Well it is my first time doing this medical practice as I am still in premedical program which I am not expose to the practical. So this is kind of an ealier exposure for me to the medical profession.

So it started with a practice session on friday, 24th April 2009, with all the volunteers given a recap on the procedures. How to take the blood pressure and glucose testing. Well for the others, it was a recap but for me, it is a new knowledge. All other volunteer-mates are from 1st,2nd, 3rd and 4th meds plus there are from 2nd year GEP. So I am the most inexperience of all.

It is really hard on hearing correctly the wushing sound but after few tryouts (sound like basketball game hehe) I am getting good at it =D

well for the blood glucose testing, we have to pricks patient's finger and take few droplets of blood into the small device which will calculates the amount of sugar in the blood.

So on that day my shift is at 2- 4 pm. When I arrived at 1.30 pm, there is already a loongg queue. OMG, there is a lot people who really want to know the status of their health which is a good thing. I am getting nervous now. Gosh what am I suppose to chat with the people, I don't want to sound very 'cold' towards them.

My first patient is a lady. She is nice. Well my first experience is really bad. I myself was confused on how to put on the cuff properly. Hazukashi! (read: how embarassing) I have to appologise a lot of time.

Did I mention that on my name tag is written Khairul, Medical Student, but on others for example Sinead Connor, 3rd Year Medical Student. I think they don't want the people to be scared of getting examined by me if they put on my name premedical student. Ahakz!

Anyway, from all of my patients, there is one person who has low glucose level (=3.7), one person with higher systolic level (=155), one person with higher glucose level (=7.3).

It sounds dangerous don't you think isn't it? but not to worry, the first person has a low level due to he has not had his lunch yet. Before he had his blood examine, he told me how he had a family history of diabetes and how relieved he is that his glucose level is lower than the normal range which is 4 - 7 . I just assured him that he is fine and he should get something sugary drink and good lunch to get his glucose boost up. Just maintain your diet and improve it with a lot of fruit and veggies.

The second person, he is quite old, I'm guessing he is above 60 years old. Well he is quite fine because his diastolic is 81 even though systolic is 155. The normal range is <120 face="verdana">The third person had his lunch or to be exact, a brunch (read: lunch + breakfast) an hour before the test. So he might had consumed a lot of food. well like I mention above, the range is 4 - 7 and his level is 7.3. not that much increase but as a procedure I still advise him to see a GP but I still said that it might due to your brunch that made it higher than it suppose to be.

Just to clarify, this glucose testing is going to count the amount of glucose on that particular time. So it easily influence by the food you consume on that day. But still, there some people who had a lunch but still within the range. So if it is above 7 due to the food, it is advisable to see GP if there are any other problem with body.

Oh I like to mention this one guy who asked a lot of question compare to others. He is a pHD grads (Computer Science) and just finished recently. So he is very eager to know what is this and that. Reminds me of my abah (read: dad).

Also I encountered one patient from Hong Kong which not able to speak English very well and therefore it is a challenge for me to speak in the simpliest way for her to understand. It is a good experience.

there are around 3-4 Asians which one from Hong Kong and others from Phillipines.

For conclusion, it is a great experience and exposure for me. I learnt how to interact with the patients and how to create a warm conversation by including the environment, for example the weather, shopping (well it is situated in a mall), who do you come with? bla bla bla...

Basically it is a grand experience that I will never forget and I love to do it again and again.

p/s: Now I know how the doctors felt especially in a GP which they have a patient every 10 mins from 7 am to 6 pm. You can have back pain you know huhuhu. Need a MASSAGE! =(

Have you ever received emails with titles such as above? I bet you have. And mostly it is from a close friend, a family member or an acquaintance in your office.

They forwarded it since it has some messages that needs to be spread among other Muslims. A part of it are reminders to us, which is a very good thing to receive every once in a while. But half of the time, it is about some pictures or websites that is provocative against Islam, or just plain anti-Islam. In this entry I would like to take you to have a look into this phenomenon. If you haven’t know already, there is a possibility that the act of forwarding such messages itself is ironically most damaging to Islam!

Among these are the messages that have links to such provocative websites.

“Go to this website to see for yourself the shocking pictures of anti-Islam!”

“Brothers and sisters, click to this link and see for yourselves the shocking article defaming Islam!”

All too often we get such messages, and we readily click to the website to ‘confirm’ the news. (Curiosity at its best, I guess)

Yes, most probably the site/article is owned by a (Islam-hating) non-Muslim. No surprises there. BUT, for all we know, the one who started the message thread might also be one of them too!

Why would they do such a thing?

Melayu pada bangsa, bahasa atau agamanya?

Berdasarkan perlembagaan, Melayu ialah mereka yang berbahasa melayu, beragama Islam, dan menerima adat-istiadat Melayu.

Tapi apa pula pandangan orang-orang terdahulu mengenai perkara ini?

Sheikh Ahmad bin Muhammad Zain al-Fathani ulama terkenal Nusantara barangkali antara intelektual Melayu yang terawal memberi definisi Melayu, iaitu seawal penghujung tahun 1880-an Masihi.

Menurut al-marhum, Melayu adalah:

"Iaitu kesatuan semua bangsa Melayu, al-Malayuwiyah itu dibangsakan kepada Milayu, dengan baris di bawah (kasrah) huruf Mim, atau baris di atas (fathah) dan baris depan (dhammah) huruf Ya'. Mereka adalah kelompok atawa segolongan besar manusia. Negeri-negeri mereka adalah sesubur-subur negeri dunia.

Negeri Melayu itu terletak di antara negeri India dan Cina. Adalah alam Melayu itu terdiri dari kebanyakan pulau yang terpencar-pencar atau terpisah-pisah. Pakar/ ahli ilmu geografi mengibaratkan bahawa alam Melayu itu adalah sebahagian daripada negeri-negeri India-Cina.

Orang-orang Hijaz/Arab dan selain mereka menamakan Melayu dan bangsa-bangsa di wilayah-wilayah itu dengan sebutan "Jawah", iaitu satu golongan manusia di satu pulau yang besar di sana. Orang Melayu bukanlah daripada orang Jawa.

Bahasa Melayu adalah satu bahasa yang paling ringan/mudah daripada bahasa-bahasa penduduk wilayah-wilayah itu. Sebab itulah kebanyakan orang Hijaz/Arab memakai menggunakan bahasa Melayu dalam pergaulan dengan bangsa-bangsa tersebut, yang berlainan bahasa mereka dengan bahasa Melayu.

Bangsa Melayu itu adalah bersifat ikhlas, lemah lembut, lunak, berperibadi sopan. Mereka memiliki kehormatan yang sopan, menguasai pembaikan pertukangan, menerima pemodenan teknologi, mereka memperoleh pendidikan dan ilmu pengetahuan serta kecemerlangan kefahaman padanya.

Bangsa Melayu mempunyai kedaulatan-kedaulatan yang besar, maka kekuasaan-kekuasaan kafir telah menipu daya mereka."

Definisi asal Sheikh Ahmad al-Fathani itu terdapat dalam kitab Tashil Nail al-Amani dan diterjemah (adaptasi) dari bahasa Arab ke bahasa Melayu oleh al-marhum Ustaz Wan Mohamad Shaghir Abdullah, dimuat dalam buku Hadiqatul Azhar war Rayahin: Asas Teori Takmilah Sastera Melayu Islam, jilid 1. Kerana itulah kita dapati ada kalimat dan gaya bahasa zaman ini dalam definisi di atas.

Ini salah satu daripada definisi Melayu itu sendiri yang sangat-sangat bersifat abstrak. Sangat susah untuk menentukan di mana nilai fizikal Melayu itu.

Apa yang menarik mengenai Paris?

Paris, kota cinta....

4 hari 3 malam itu sangat mengujakan dengan persekitaran yang pelbagai (ahem maksud saya pelbagai kaum)

Pergi ke kota Paris bukan bermaksud pergi ke kota yang dipenuhi manusia berkulit putih...

tapi komposisi antara kulit putih dan kulit hitam yang seimbang...amat mengelirukan kadang-kala...

Kota cinta ini penuh dengan ukiran bangunan lama yang penuh bersejarah namun seperti jua rakan serumah, tidak berkesempatan untuk menelaah sejarah kota Paris dulu (sayang seribu kali sayang)

Kota cinta ini tidaklah diketahui penduduknya sama ada kurang mesra disebabkan sudah biasa dengan pelancong atau memang perangai mereka sedemikian (tiada jawapan dapat diberikan dengan hanya berbekalkan pengalaman 4 hari berkelana di sini)

Apalah sangat indah nya ukiran bangunan itu tanpa melihat sikap penghuni yang mendiami kota cinta ini...

Dapat tangkap kah? Kesilapan kecil yang memungkin mendapat pelajaran di sini...dengan kemungkinan orang Perancis akan memulakan perbualan mereka dengan menegur secara tertibnya dahulu....walaupun seperti di atas perbualan telah dimulakan dengan excuse me...tapi masih tak diterima pakai...(namun ni masih merupakan andaian....tapi sekurang-kurang tahu mengenai selok-belok diorang dalam bertemu dengan orang asing)

p/s: satu lagi ramai tersangat lah ramai Muslim di Kota cinta, teringat filem Paris Je t'aime ada menampilkan seorang lelaki kristian kota cinta jatuh cinta dengan Muslimah kota cinta....

sangat menarik walaupun pendek tapi berkesan....peranan atuk dalam scene ini perlu diberi perhatian....

Update:

Apa yang saya cuba kaitkan di atas ialah dua situasi yang sangat kontradik di mana pada statement saya yang pertama saya cuba nyatakan bahawa mereka kelihatan sombong tapi pada statement kedua saya nyatakan bahawa mereka kelihatan sangat polite dengan keperluan kepada mengucapkan bonjour pada permulaan perbualan. Ini bukan sahaja terjadi pada diri saya sahaja tetapi melalui pemerhatian selama 4 hari memerhati mereka bertegur sapa...

Maka anda bisa memilih yang mana anda suka tapi ini sahaja pemerhatian saya....bukan konkrit pun...mungkin ada yang lebih berpengalaman....

“Eh, Khairul. Minggu ni lab kita kena bedah jantung kan?” tanya Auni Nadiah Rameli.

“Khairul, this week we need to dissect sheep’s heart right?” asked Maria Ramon.

“Yes, isn’t that great!” I answered. =D

Inilah perbualan-perbualan yang kami bualkan minggu lepas sementara menunggu hari (26/03/09) kami perlu masuk ke dalam makmal serbaguna (baca: Multipurpose Laboratory) kami.

Saya sendiri merasa teruja dengan aktiviti praktikal.

“Tak sabarnya aku!” bisik hatiku ini.

Bukanlah tak pernah buat dissection sebelum ni. Pengalaman di Australia dulu lebih pelbagai. Ketika di Pengajian Asasi Universiti-universiti Australia Barat (baca: Western Australian Universities Foundation Program), kami sekelas, seramai 16 orang telah diberi peluang untuk membuat pembedahan untuk 3 jenis organ iaitu otak (kambing biri-biri), mata (lembu) dan jantung (kambing biri-biri dan babi). Setiap organ untuk dua orang (memang puas lah)

“Baiklah semua, hari ini kita membedah mata lembu sebagai praktikal kepada topik Mata yang kita pelajari semalam” kata guru Biologi Manusia.

“Sebelum itu, sila maju ke hadapan. Saya akan tunjukkan apa yang anda semua perlu lakukan dan perlu capai dalam praktikal anda hari ini”

Kami semua berkumpul di hadapan guru kami yang siap dengan sarung tangan sambil memegang bebola mata lembu itu.

“Baiklah, sila lihat sini. Apa yang menarik mengenai mata ini seperti yang kita ketahui ialah keunikan kanta nya. Cuba lihat ya”

Beliau telah melakukan sedikit torehan di atas mata berdekatan dengan kanta menggunakan skapel. Dengan menggunakan gunting, beliau membuat lubang dan memicit keluar kanta daripada mata tersebut. Lalu beliau meletakkan kanta di atas sehelai surat khabar. tulisan di atas surat khabar itu kelihatan lebih besar daripada saiz sebenar jika dilihat melalui kanta tersebut.

“Wow!! Semua relajar teruja. =D

“Tapi Harry, ada benda yang menghalang tulisan itu. Nampak kabur,” ujar seorang pelajar.

Lupa nak beritahu, nama guru kami Harry dan kat sini kami panggil guru kami dengan nama beliau sendiri. Tak perlu bercikgu-cikgu atau berencik-encik. Nampak macam kurang ajar tapi saya berpendapat hubungan antara guru dan relajar dapat dirapatkan dan status antara keduanya sama bak kata “pepatah berdiri sama tinggi, duduk sama rendah”.

Berbalik pada cerita tadi.

“Oh James, itu katarak.”

Menarik, lembu pun ada katarak. =D

Pengalaman menemui katarak itu sangat mengujakan tapi pengalaman itu tidak diabadikan di dalam sekeping gambar pun. Maka untuk praktikal kali ini, saya mengambil gambar sepuas-puasnya sebagai tanda balas dendam.

“Tak Kira lah orang nak cakap apa, jakun ke, terlebih excited ke, apa kejadah ke, aku mesti ambil gambar kali ini” getus hatiku.

Jadi misi untuk mengambil gambar telah berjaya dilakukan dan dengan ini saya mempersembahkan koleksi gambar-gambar pembedahan kecil ku

Hari ni bermula masa diawalkan sejam. Bermula pada hari ahad terakhir bulan Mac. Sepatutnya perbezaan masa dengan Malaysia ialah 8 jam tapi dengan waktu baru ini, perbezaan itu jadi 7 jam.

Menarik kan? Nampak macam kompleks tapi perubahan masa ni sekadar untuk memaksimakan penggunaan masa siang yang panjang pada musim panas. Sebagai contohnya, kalau matahari terbit pukul 4 pagi, dengan Daylight Saving ini, matahari terbit pada pukul 5 pagi. dan kalau matahari terbenam pada pukul 7 petang, dengan Daylight Saving, matahari terbenam pada pukul 8 malam. Nampak sebabnya? kalau sebelum daylight saving biasa nya orang masih tidur melewati masa matahari terbit maka 1 jam itu tidak digunakan untuk produktiviti. tetapi dengan daylight saving masa 1 jam yang rugi itu telah ditebus dengan waktu matahari terbenam lewat 1 jam. maka ada 1 jam lebihan untuk melakukan aktiviti siang.

Hari ini 09/03/09. Bangun pagi tadi sedar hari ini bertarikh sedemikian. Teringat lagu dalam drama bersiri jepun, 1 Liter Air Mata bertajuk Sangatsu Konoka. Hmm...apa yang istimewanya bulan Mac ni. Jom kita tanya Pak Haji Google. Bulan Mac ini seperti yang kita tahu merupakan bulan ketiga dalam kalendar gregorian dan merupakan bulan yang mempunyai 31 hari. Tapi...tapi tahukah anda bahawa bulan Mac sebenarnya merupakan bulan pertama jika mengikut tabiat Rom Purba di mana nama bulan Mac ini sebenarnya Martius diambil daripada nama Dewa Perang Rom, Mars.

Owh sebelum terlupa, apa itu sangatsu konoka? Sangatsu Konoka itu bermaksud March/09. Mesti tertanya-tanya kenapa terbalik sedangkan kita biasanya guna 9 hb Mac. Cuba klik link ini untuk menjawab persoalan tersebut.

Baiklah apa emblem untuk bulan Mac? Kalau di Jepun emblem nya ialah bunga Daffodil. Tapi rasanya kat sini pun bunga daffodil juga.

Sebelum itu...sebab apa orang-orang dahulu guna bulan Mac sebagai bulan pertama? dengan Britain menggunakan bulan Mac sampai 1752 sebelum mengambil kalendar gregorian sebagai tata cara hidup mereka dan banyak lagi budaya dan agama memulakan tahun dengan bulan Mac.

Ini sebabnya, bulan Mac ini dianggap sebagai permulaan musim bunga dan permulaan kempen perang pada masa itu.

Apa-apa pun, musim bunga sudah bermula, CCMB pun sudah bermula. Musim yang membawa kesuburan kepada kehidupan.

Salam semua. Sedar-sedar sudah berminggu-minggu saya tidak mengemaskinikan blog saya ini. Gomen na! =) Saya akan cuba mengemaskini sebaik mungkin.

Mungkin ramai tertanya-tanya mengapa saya menulis tajuk Si Pelari Layang-layang.

Ini adalah tugasan saya untuk subjek elektif saya, Elektif Kemanusian: Kritik Novel @ Humanitive Elective: Critique a Novel .
Untuk elektif ini saya perlu memilih antara tiga jenis novel iaitu antara Kehidupan Pi @ Life of Pi, karya Yann Martel;

Si pelari Layang-layang @ The kite runner, karya Khaled Hosseini; dan To kill a mocking bird, karya Harper Lee.

Saya telah memilih novel Si pelari layang-layang. Saya masih belum habis membacanya namun buat masa sekarang saya amat menggemarinya. Setiap karakter mempunyai kisah duka yang tersendiri yang hanya diketahui oleh empunya diri. Selain itu kecelaruan identiti yang amat menyesakkan setiap empunya karakter terasa dekat dalam hati dek huraian yang amat mendalam oleh penulis.

Baiklah nanti saya akan cuba buat rumusan mengenai novel ini....tak habis baca lagi pun....=P

Coming-of-Age Day

Salam everyone. Today I found one article from Japan Newspaper stating about 'Coming of Age Celebration'. What is this celebration all about. First of all this celebration is celebrated by everyone that has pass legal age on that year in Japan. For example in their country is 20 years old. So they are going to celebrate the coming of age on particular date. You might be wondering why am I telling this... hehe this is because the date of the Coming of Age Celebration is on 2nd January every year (12th Jan this year)...now you get what I mean! =D and the interesting thing is this year is my 21st birthday(my birthday on 13th Jan, a day after the celebration) ....kinda like legal age for every countries...(some countries 18, 20 or 21, so I'm 21 , I pass all countries' legal age hoho). So yeah this year birthday is going to be my Coming of Age Celebration....hohoho. ~Peace~ =D

"Gosh, I'm so unlucky. What a time to become an adult!" It is Coming-of-Age Day. Perhaps many of you who are celebrating this day are silently muttering something like this. We are indeed in the midst of a tsunami-like economic crisis. The economy is getting worse. So-and-so's company collapsed. So-and-so is left out in the cold because company A reneged on its promise to hire him. The more you hear horror stories like these from your friends and superiors, the more anxious you are about your own future.

People attending coming-of-age ceremonies today were born when the era changed from Showa to Heisei. By the time they were old enough to be aware of the greater world around them, the asset-inflated bubble economy had burst. They have really never experienced straightforward economic growth.

The young entrepreneurs who held court in Tokyo's Roppongi Hills and the highfliers in the information-technology sector were once treated like celebrities, but the party only lasted a short time.

What lies ahead is an aging society with fewer children.

The small, young working population must support the many elderly people. The pension you receive in your old age will not be as much as what the old people get now. Yet, you are expected to bear the burden of the country's debt.

If you look outside the nation, you see how the tides of globalization created numerous gaps around the world: a power gap between the strong and the weak, and an income gap between the rich and the poor. And the wasteful use of resources and energy that caused global warming.

From that perspective, you might say your generation is unlucky.

But you would be wasting your youth if you just whine and feel sorry for yourself.

The world may be a confused, complex place, but you should not run away and hide. Instead, you must face it head on.

It is the young people who can change the world.

Obviously, the young have no firsthand knowledge of the past and little experience. That is precisely why they can come up with new ideas, unhindered by conventions of the past. New perspectives can sometimes be the key to unexpected solutions.

It would be a sad thing indeed if grown-ups cannot find it in themselves to appreciate the values of the young and their way of doing things.

With a Lower House election expected this year, we have a good opportunity. An election could provide the impetus to change the world.

Especially this time around, the landscape of Japanese politics might be drastically transformed.

It is said that there is strength in numbers. But as a group, young people are small in numbers. Their opinions do not readily make it onto center stage.

On top of that, the politicians in this country tend to court only older citizens. This is because older voters can be expected to actually go to the polling booths.

If you remain on the sidelines, your problems and concerns will be left behind and ignored.

These are difficult times to live in, and that is all the more reason to speak out. You must not remain silent.

Not for nothing, you've become an adult legally. Why don't you give it a try and see what it's like at a polling booth. Build up the young people's votes, one by one.

With the ship heading into high seas, it needs young rowers.

Routine for my birthday today.

7.00 am - wake up
9.30 am - went to university for my second exam
11.00 am - finished exam and went back home
1.00 pm - watched movie 'death notes 2' as a way to celebrate my birthday( i know i know its an old movie...i never watched it before)
4 pm - jeng jeng jeng.....my housemates did a surprise birthday celebration for me. They bought a cake. Omg....I cannot believe myself that I am celebrating my birthday with my housemates. This is my first time of celebrating with my housemates....I really appreciate what they did even though all of them have exam tomorrow. They still try to celebrate it with the time constraint.

To all my house mates, I truly appreciate it and feel honoured to have such housemates like all of you. So now I have a picture of my own cake instead of using the picture from searching through the website hehehe. And they also gave me a hand-made card....I am so touched...thank you again. :D

And also thank you everyone who wished me at facebook.

btw what is the benefit of celebrating birthday if we don't say thank you to the one who brought us into this world.

Thank you abah and umi for bringing me to this world. I truly appreciated with what both of you had done to me until I reach 21 years old. I know I will never be able to repay. I love both of you.

Israeli troops and tanks have surrounded Gaza's main city in an offensive against Hamas that has killed 510 and left some 2,500 wounded.
Israeli tanks poured shells and machine gun-fire into suspected militant positions and war planes struck as Hamas fighters fought back with mortars and rockets.
Hamas kept up rocket attacks against southern Israel, defying efforts by the Middle East's most powerful army to achieve Israeli leaders' declared aim of removing the threat of cross-border salvoes.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert told French President Nicolas Sarkozy in a phone call that Israel would continue to allow in aid supplies to prevent a humanitarian crisis in Gaza.
Sarkozy was due to arrive in Jerusalem today to push for a truce.
EU foreign policy chiefs launched a mission to seek a ceasefire in the Hamas-run Gaza Strip but acknowledged they faced a difficult task.
Israeli President Shimon Peres rejected the possibility of a ceasefire but said Israel did not intend to occupy Gaza.
Israel has accused Hamas of using civilians in the Gaza Strip as "human shields", saying the Islamist group has been firing rockets from densely populated areas and storing weapons in homes and mosques.
Medics said three Palestinian rescue workers were killed by Israeli fire yesterday, raising to seven the total number of medical staff who have died in nine days of bloodshed.
Refuge
Saturday night's invasion of the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip followed a week of Israeli bombardments from land, sea and air -- the most serious Israeli-Palestinian fighting in decades.
Palestinians said soldiers moved deep into Beit Lahiya in the northern Gaza Strip and asked residents to leave their homes to avoid being hurt in the fighting. Some families sought refuge in UN-run schools in neighbouring Beit Hanoun.
Gaza medical officials said the total Palestinian death toll has risen to 512. A UN agency said at least a quarter of the dead were civilians. A Palestinian human rights group put the figure at 40pc.
One Israeli soldier was killed and 32 were wounded in the ground offensive, Israel said. Four Israelis have been killed by the Hamas rocket strikes since December 27.
Calls for a ceasefire from the United States, Israel's main backer, other governments and the United Nations failed to gain traction over disagreements about who should stop firing first.
Heavy civilian casualties in the territory packed with 1.5 million people could increase international pressure on Israel.
But the fighting also holds political risks for Israeli leaders before a February 10 election, especially if its forces take heavy casualties in street fighting.

Masyarakat bukan Islam tidak seharusnya berasa bimbang jika hukum Hudud dilaksanakan di negara ini sebaliknya boleh memilih undang-undang yang mereka mahu seperti yang telah tertulis dalam Undang-undang Kanun Jenayah Syariah Kelantan dan Terengganu, katanya.
"PAS tak perlu terangkan (tentang hukum Hudud) kerana undang-undang ini tiada kena mengena dengan orang bukan Islam.
"Pada kita, tidak timbul lagi soal Hudud kerana ia telah diluluskan di DUN (Dewan Undangan Negeri) Kelantan sejak tahun 90-an lagi dan di Terengganu pula telah diwartakan," katanya dalam sidang akhbar selepas merasmikan kempen 'Jom Sertai Pas' di Dataran Shah Alam semalam.
Ditanya sama ada PAS akan membawa usul mengenai pelaksanaan hukum Hudud di Parlimen untuk dibahaskan, beliau berkata belum tiba masanya untuk berbuat demikian.
Abdul Hadi dalam pada itu menyatakan hukum Hudud di negara ini hanya akan dilakukan jika rakyat negara ini berada dalam keadaan yang stabil.
"Masalah pengangguran masih ada lagi dan untuk laksanakan hukum ini kedudukan rakyat Malaysia mesti stabil contohnya daripada segi pendidikan, kehidupan, dan hubungan keluarga juga kena dijaga," katanya yang dipetik daripada agensi berita. - azm _

Japanese group asks Google to stop map image service

TOKYO ( Dec 19, 2008) : A group of Japanese lawyers and professors asked on Friday that Google Inc stop providing detailed street-level images of Japanese cities on the Internet, saying they violated privacy rights.

Google's Street View offers ground-level, 360-degree views of streets in 12 Japanese cities and is also offered for some 50 cities in the United States and certain areas in Europe.

The service allows Web users to drive down a street, in a virtual sense, using their mouse to adjust views of roadside scenery.

"We strongly suspect that what Google has been doing deeply violates a basic right that humans have," Yasuhiko Tajima, a professor of constitutional law at Sophia University in Tokyo, told Reuters by telephone.

"It is necessary to warn society that an IT giant is openly violating privacy rights, which are important rights that the citizens have, through this service."

The Campaign Against Surveillance Society, a Japanese civilian group that Tajima heads, wants Google to stop providing its Street View service of Japanese cities and delete all saved images.

Google's office in Tokyo was unable to comment immediately.

Privacy concerns about Google's service have grown in Japanese media, especially after some people discovered their images on Street View.

Similar concerns have been raised in other parts of the world, including the United States and Europe.

In one case, a woman was shown sunbathing and in another a man was pictured exiting a strip club in San Francisco.

In March, Google said it would comply with a Pentagon request to remove some online images from Street View over fears they posed a security threat to US military bases.

Web-based Google Maps and a related computer-based service called Google Earth have drawn criticism from a variety of countries for providing images of sensitive locations, such as military bases or potential targets of terror attacks. -- REUTERS

KUALA LUMPUR, 25 Dis (Hrkh) -Masyarakat bukan Islam di negara ini tidak akan terjejas dengan pelaksanaan hukum hudud.

Menurut Naib Pengerusi DAP, M Kulasegaran, beliau menghormati pendirian PAS dalam pelaksanaan hukum hudud dan yakin bukan Islam di negara ini tidak akan terjejas kehidupan mereka jika ia dilaksanakan.

Mengulas situasi dan suasana pilihan raya kecil Kuala Terengganu, Kulasegaran menambah bahawa,para pengundi Cina tidak akan terpengaruh dengan isu hudud menjelang pilihan raya kecil di sana.

Menurutnya, mereka matang dan mampu melihat dengan lebih jelas permainan yang cuba dibawa oleh Barisan Nasional (BN).

"Perkara ini telah didebat banyak kali.Tiada yang baru,"katanya kepada wartawan selepas perasmian pusat khidmat masyarakat Adun Jelapang (DAP),Hee Yit Foong.

Tambahnya, dia menghormati pendirian PAS untuk melaksanakan hudud dan ia merupakan inspirasi parti tersebut.

"Ia masih memerlukan perubahan perlembagaan persekutuan,"jelasnya sambil menegaskan PAS akan sukar mendapat majoriti untuk melakukannya.

Pengundi-pengundi Cina dilaporkan membentuk 11 peratus dalam daftar pemilihan untuk pilihan raya kecil di Kuala Terengganu dan ia penting buat BN.

Kulasegaran yang juga merupakan Ahli Parlimen Ipoh Barat menegaskan,seandainya hukum hudud dilaksanakan gaya hidup masyarakat bukan Islam tidak akan mendapat kesan.

Japan factory output has biggest fall on record

TOKYO – Japan's contracting economy got a slew of bad news Friday when government figures showed that industrial production plunged by its biggest margin on record in November, the jobless rate jumped and household spending fell.

Output at the nation's manufacturers tumbled 8.1 percent from October, the largest drop since Tokyo began measuring such data in 1953, as Japan's automakers and others slashed production to cope with slowing global demand. A government survey predicted further declines of 8 percent in December and 2.1 percent in January.

"Exports and industrial production are falling so extraordinarily quickly that it almost defies analysis," said Richard Jerram, chief economist at Macquarie Securities in Tokyo.

The drop in factory production is nearly double the previous biggest decline of 4.3 percent in January 2001, according to the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Earlier this week, trade data showed that exports plunged a record 26.7 percent in November.

Many companies, including big names like Toyota Motor Corp. and Sony Corp., have announced plans to cut production and workers. The yen's recent surge has also dealt a huge blow to the world's second-largest economy by eroding exporters' overseas earnings.

The job cuts are already being reflected in a higher unemployment rate, which rose to 3.9 percent in November from 3.7 percent in October, the Ministry of Internal Affairs said. That's still below the 4.2 percent reached in August.

The ministry said 2.56 million people were unemployed in Japan in November, an increase of 100,000 from a year earlier.

Part-time and temporary workers have suffered the bulk of job cuts so far. The Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare said Friday that given current company plans, 85,000 such workers will have lost their jobs between October and March, compared to about 3,300 permanent employees.

The largest portion of such job cuts were in Aichi prefecture of central Japan, where Toyota and many of its part makers are based. Layoffs of salaried employees is rare in Japan, where lifetime employment is a tradition.

Consumers are also holding back. Retail sales fell 0.9 percent in November from last year, the third straight monthly decline.

And average monthly household spending dipped 0.5 percent from a year earlier, for the ninth decline in a row. Still, the drop was smaller than expected, beating the 3.6 percent decline forecast by a Kyodo News survey. Household spending is a key indicator of consumer spending, which makes up more than half of Japan's gross domestic product.

Inflation, meanwhile, eased. Core consumer prices — which excludes volatile fresh food prices — rose 1 percent after a 1.9 increase in October.

As Japan's economy weakens, government officials have warned that deflation, or steady price declines, is a possibility next year. Japan suffered through bouts of deflation from 1999 to about 2006, as it recovered from previous economic downturns.

Investors shrugged off the bevy of negative numbers. The benchmark Nikkei 225 stock average rose 1.6 percent to 8,739.52.

"Industrial output is highly volatile, and given the current state of the global economy, investors were not surprised by the plunge in November," said Kazuki Miyazawa, market strategist at Daiwa Securities SMBC Co. Ltd.

Japan's economy is already in recession. In the third quarter, it shrank 1.8 percent at an annual pace, worst that first thought.

The outlook for manufacturers is particularly grim. If dire forecasts for the next two months of industrial production hold, factory output will have fallen 20 percent from the start of October through January 2009.

Output by automakers fell 15 percent from October and 25 percent from a year earlier. Electronic manufacturers cut output 12 percent compared the previous month and 25 percent from the same month last year.

Economists say that while the outlook for the near-term remains bleak, a modest recovery in demand and production may begin to surface in mid-2009, as governments around the world begin to implement stimulus measures announced in recent months.

"We haven't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet, but we should be seeing it in a few months," said Takuji Okubo, an economist at Merrill Lynch.

PORTLAND, Ore. – There's holiday joy and post-holiday blues, but for the nation's retailers it's all been one big downer.

The holiday shopping season was one of the most dismal in years and even the after-Christmas period, when consumers normally rush to stores to use gift cards and seize on big sales, isn't expected to be enough to save retailers from a terrible year.

Holiday sales typically account for 30 percent to 50 percent of a retailer's annual total. But shoppers cut back their spending this year as they struggled with job cuts, home foreclosures, portfolio losses and other economic woes.

Analysts have kept slashing their holiday estimates. Michael P. Niemira, chief economist at the International Council of Shopping Centers, now expects that sales at established stores for November and December will fall 1.5 percent to 2 percent — which would make it the weakest holiday season since at least 1969, when the index began.

According to preliminary data from SpendingPulse — a division of MasterCard Advisors that tracks total sales paid for by credit card, checks and cash — retail sales fell between 5.5 percent and 8 percent during the holiday season compared with last year. Excluding auto and gas sales, retail sales fell between 2 percent and 4 percent, according to SpendingPulse.

A better indicator of how retailers fared won't arrive until Jan. 8, when major stores report same-store sales, or sales at locations open at least a year, for December.

Retailers are still trying to entice consumers with big markdowns, extended hours and other perks.

"It has a Black Friday feel to it," said Tom Aiello, a spokesman for Sears and Kmart, likening the post-Christmas promotions to those found the day after Thanksgiving.

Sears stores are opening several hours early and offering doorbuster deals through noon. Shoppers can get jeans for less than $10 or special financing on exercise equipment to help keep their New Year's resolutions.

Kmart is cutting in half prices on necessities, such as fall and winter clothes for the family, and offering deals on seasonal decor.

Although gift cards sales overall are predicted to be down, Aiello said Sears and Kmart have not seen that and are expecting strong redemption. Retailers cannot record a sale on gift cards until they are redeemed.

Toys R Us said it is cutting prices by 60 percent on some brands the day after Christmas. And kids who didn't get the Hannah Montana doll they wanted may be able to find it for half off.

Other retailers such as Target are pushing online deals, rather than in-store promotions, more heavily in the post-holiday period. Target said it is putting thousands of items on clearance and making them eligible for free shipping the day after Christmas.

Others, like Wal-Mart Stores, are waiting until the weekend to make markdowns on items such as televisions, office and home goods but say they will continue in-store promotions of the week.

Several retailers said they will continue or add new promotions in January, as experts predict the recession will carry into 2009.

Hari ini sudah tiba bulan Disember. Bulan cuti yang amat dinanti-nantikan....atau dalam bahasa negara 4 musim...dah masuk musim salju(menarik guna perkataan salju ni, rasa liguistik habis).

Satu bulan lebih lagi sebelum peperiksaan semester akan berlangsung, aku kena melipat gandakan usaha aku untuk menelaah subjek-subjek pre-Med aku...

Tapi yang aku sedar, masa berlalu dengan pantas, rasa macam baru lagi aku masuk Kolej Perubatan Diraja Ireland (Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland aka RCSI). tup tup lagi dua minggu jadual kelas aku akan habis sebelum masuk musim cuti selama 3-4 minggu sebelum peperiksaan semester.

Banyak yang telah aku lakukan sepanjang berada di sini, ramai rakan baru telah aku kenali (dari pelbagai negara), sesungguh aku tak sangka akan berjaya menjejak kakiku di negara Eropah untuk meneruskan pengajianku ini jika mempunyai pemikiran 2 tahun yang lepas sewaktu aku di Perth. Sesungguhnya jikalau sudah rezeki, cubalah berpaling kemana-mana pun, destinasi nya tetap itu....larilah ke mana-mana pun, ambillah jalan jauh sekali pun, akhirnya sampai ke destinasi yang sama. (itu merupakan kata-kata hikmah abah yang sentiasa ku pegang)

KALAU ADA REZEKI, MESTI DAPAT. YANG PENTING USAHA MESTI ADA.

USAHA DULU, LEPAS TU TAWAKKAL BANYAK-BANYAK

Itulah kata-kata abahku setiap kali aku hampir berputus asa untuk belajar bidang perubatan.

Entah mengapa sejak dua-tiga hari saya merasa rindu pada Moscow. Saya sendiri pun tidak pasti mengapa. Saya rindu pada bahasa nya(saya fikir saya mesti boleh bercakap bahasa russia dengan lancarnya jika berada di moscow), saya rindu pada kawan-kawan di moscow terutama di Pushkin. Macam-mana la keadaan mereka. Hmm...rindunya pada Moscow membuatkan saya mencuba masakan moscow untuk dinner rumah saya. Saya membuat sup Cold Vegan Borsch dan Chicken Roast Russian Style. Pelikkan keadaan saya ini. Hmmm....apa-apa pun saya terjumpa satu video mengenai metro di Moscow yang kelakar tapi benar. saya pernah jumpa orang buat macam tu kat orang sebelahnya (juga bahagian saya rindu, ditolak masuk ke dalam metro oleh mak cik tua tapi berotot lelaki ahakz hehehe, saya pernah rasa). juga saya sertakan video yang saya ambil masa saya di dalam metro. selamat menonton.

Pagi tadi kami semua telah bangun lebih pukul 7 dan bertolak ke UCC(University College of Cork) pada pukul 8.50 pagi. Lebih kurang pukul 11 pertandingan dimulakan....saya menunggu giliran saya pada kumpulan kedua....kira 50+++ orang dibahagikan kepada dua kumpulan dan setiap kumpulan dibahagi kepada beberapa kumpulan. Kumpulan saya terdiri daripada saya, James, Mario, Rua, Joshua, dan saya terlupa nama lagi seorang hahaha....

Namun Alhamdulillah saya masih dikira berjaya melepasi pusingan pertama setelah kami semua diberi kedudukan berdasarkan berapa jumlah kemenangan dan berapa mata yang berjaya dipungut. Maka pihak lawan seterusnya saya masih akan bertemu dengan salah-seorang daripada pihak lawan daripada kupulan 1 iaitu Rua. Alamak matilah saya. pasti akan kalah kerana sebelum ni saya dah kalah teruk. Sudahlah perlawanan kali ini mata penuh ialah 15 mata. Lagi banyak mata kena pungut. Berdasarkan kiraan matematik saya hanya boleh dapat 3 mata sahaja huhu. Namun atas semangat diberikan oleh kapten saya, Alexis Bouvier, saya meneruskan perlawanan ini. Pantang anak melayu gentar dengan sesiapa pun =P. atau peribahasa alang-alang menyeluk pekasam biar sampai ke pangkal lengan.

Maka pertandingan diteruskan. Saya sendiri tidak mengerti kenapa tetapi tiba-tiba saya mendapat semangat baru dan segala kelemahan saya sebelum ini berjaya diatasi(walaupun tak sepenuhnya). Saya berjaya mendapat 6 mata pertama dengan Rua mendapat 2 mata sahaja. Namun dia berjaya mengejar kembali dan memintas saya dengan mata 8-6. Namun saya berjaya memintas dia dengan mata 10 - 8. kemudian kami sama-sama bergilir-gilir mendapat mata. Tetapi apabila saya tiba di mata ke-12, saya banyak melakukan kesilapan sehingga dia akhirnya menang. Maka keputusannya : K.A 12 - 15 Rua. Sedih teramat sangat saya masa tu, saya hampir mempunyai peluang tetapi telah dilepaskan begitu sahaja. Juri yang mengadili perlawanan ini memuji aksi yang kami lakukan dan dia memuji peningkatan saya dalam pertandingan ini ( dia merupakan juri yang sama mengadili kami dalam pusingan pertama). Namun saya berbangga dengan pencapaian saya dan saya akan cuba untuk menjadi lebih baik di masa depan. Saya memang tertarik dengan sukan ini sejak di UWA lagi.

Dala pertandingan ini, kumpulan RCSI berjaya membawa balik anugerah peserta permulaan terbaik(Highest Placed Beginner Award) oleh Nikkita Skirkov(berdarah russia) yang berjaya sampai ke peringkat ke-4. Peserta Mary Ma juga berjaya sampai ke peringkat 3. Selain daripada mereka berdua, kami semua telah melakukan yang terbaik walaupun kami masih hijau dalam arena sukan fencing ini.

Priviet! Dah lama rasanya jari ni tidak menyentuh punat papan kekunci ni (entah betul entah tidak terma ni) untuk menulis entry baru...hmmm sampai hilang idea setiap kali hendak menulis artikel baru. Bakat yang tidak diasah akan hilang ditelan masa.

Baiklah. Sepanjang dua bulan lepas, September dan Oktober, pelbagai perkara telah saya lalui hmm... rasanya macam pelbagai negara telah saya lintasi hingga membawa kepada negara yang saya diami buat masa sekarang iaitu Dublin, Ireland.

Banyak yang saya dapat belajar sepanjang dua bulan ni, saya belajar mengenai sikap orang yg pernah duduk dalam pemerintahan komunis, cuaca di pelbagai negara, dan etc...

banyak yang terpaksa hadam sebelum saya boleh meluahkan nya.

huhu maaflah kalau tulisan nampak macam pelik. saya sedang cuba sedaya-upaya untuk menulis mengikut tatabahasa dan nahu yang tepat tanpa "abbreviation".

Oil prices drop to near $112 a barrel as supply concerns over Tropical Storm Fay ease

Oil prices dropped near $112 a barrel Tuesday, extending an overnight decline as Tropical Storm Fay avoided wells and other oil installations in the Gulf of Mexico.

By midday in Europe, light, sweet crude for September delivery was down 77 cents to $112.10 a barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

The contract fell 90 cents Monday to settle at $112.87 a barrel after the threat of Tropical Storm Fay eased. That was the first time crude ended below $113 since May 1.

In London, October Brent crude fell 64 cents to $111.30 a barrel on the ICE Futures exchange.

Analysts also said oil pricing is likely to remain suppressed amid concerns that a global economic slowdown may further dampen world demand. But intermittent supply concerns due to the hurricane season and ongoing conflicts such as that between Russia and Georgia are likely to halt any sharp slide in pricing.

"Continuing worries about a U.S. economy slowdown, which may spread to the euro zone and perhaps also Asia are weighing down on oil pricing," said Victor Shum, an energy analyst with consultancy Purvin & Gertz in Singapore.

"In the near term, there will be a lot of downward pressure but I don't foresee a fast collapse of pricing to $100 dollars a barrel or below. There is still strong support at $110 a barrel level because of supply side issues," he said.

Olivier Jakob of Petromatrix in Switzerland, however, said it was too early to assert that oil prices had reached a bottom, "especially since there is a clear lack of buying momentum."

Regarding oil fundamentals, Jakob said it was worth keeping an eye on how China's import of oil products will develop after the buildup of stocks for the Beijing Olympics. Reports of lower demand there could put further downward pressure on prices.

Fay, the sixth named storm of the 2008 Atlantic season, swept over the Florida Keys on Monday after being blamed for at least 14 deaths in Haiti and the Dominican Republic as it moved though the Caribbean. Fay was expected to become a hurricane before curling up Florida's western coast and hitting the state's mainland sometime Tuesday.

Royal Dutch Shell PLC has evacuated 425 oil workers from the Gulf of Mexico as a precaution but said it will redeploy them if the storm remains on its current track. So far during this year's hurricane season in the Atlantic Ocean, no storm has significantly damaged oil installations in the Gulf.

A bearish forecast on Friday from the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries of lower global oil demand growth also helped to push down oil prices.

In its monthly report, OPEC forecast that the world's daily appetite for oil this year would grow by 1 million barrels, a reduction of 30,000 barrels a day from its previous estimate. It predicted growth for 2009 will be 900,000 barrels a day, the lowest growth in world demand since 2002.

Analysts said uncertainty over the conflict between Russia and Georgia will support oil pricing. Russia has begun withdrawing troops, but U.S. officials said Moscow has positioned missile launchers in the separatist South Ossetia province.

Oil market traders were also keeping an eye on possible tensions in Pakistan after President Pervez Musharraf announced his resignation Monday.

In other Nymex trading, heating oil futures fell 1.53 cents to $3.0695 a gallon, while gasoline prices lost 1.37 cents to $2.8015 a gallon. Natural gas futures fell 7.9 cents to $7.809 per 1,000 cubic feet.

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - The worst of the global financial crisis is yet to come and a large U.S. bank will fail in the next few months as the world's biggest economy hits further troubles, former IMF chief economist Kenneth Rogoff said on Tuesday.

Rogoff's comments come as investors dumped shares of the largest U.S. home funding companies Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac on Monday after a newspaper report said government officials may have no choice but to effectively nationalize the U.S. housing finance titans.

A government move to recapitalize the two companies by injecting funds could wipe out existing common stock holders, the weekend Barron's story said. Preferred shareholders and even holders of the two government-sponsored entities' $19 billion of subordinated debt would also suffer losses.

Rogoff said multi-billion dollar investments by sovereign wealth funds from Asia and the Middle East in western financial firms may not necessarily result in large profits because they had not taken into account the broader market conditions that the industry faces.

"There was this view early on in the crisis that sovereign wealth funds could save everybody. Investment banks did something stupid, they lost money in the sub-prime, they're great buys, sovereign wealth funds come in and make a lot of money by buying them.

"That view neglects the point that the financial system has become very bloated in size and needed to shrink," Rogoff told the conference in Singapore, whose wealth funds GIC and Temasek have invested billions in Merrill Lynch and Citigroup

In response to the sharp U.S. housing retrenchment and turmoil in credit markets, the U.S. Federal Reserve has reduced interest rates by a cumulative 3.25 percentage points to 2 percent since mid-September.

Rogoff said the U.S. Federal Reserve was wrong to cut interest rates as "dramatically" as it did.

"Cutting interest rates is going to lead to a lot of inflation in the next few years in the United States."

2008 inflation forecast raised to 5.8pc
MALAYSIA'S average inflation rate is expected to rise to 5.8 per cent this year from an earlier forecast of 5.5 per cent, according to Malaysian Rating Corporation Bhd (MARC).

This followed the sustained increase in global and regional inflation as well as a spike in June's consumer price index (CPI) due to the significant removal in fuel subsidy that triggered a 41 per cent and 63 per cent hike in petrol and diesel prices, respectively, it said in a statement today.

“While the CPI has risen by an average rate of 3.7 per cent in the first half of 2008, the index is expected to climb at a faster pace of 7.2 per cent in the second half of the year, giving an average of 5.5 per cent for the whole year,” the rating agency said.

MARC said the two major sub-indices that would likely put upward pressures on the overall CPI in the near term are food and non-alcoholic beverages and transport.

It expects sharp increases in the sub-indices of transport and food and non-alcoholic beverages by 19.6 per cent and 10 per cent on a year-on-year basis in the remaining part of the year as the impact of rising cost of food and fuel continues to filter through the economy.

For this year, it anticipates the two indices to chalk up average increases of 7.6 per cent and 10.8 per cent, respectively.

Meanwhile, due to higher-than-expected inflation in Malaysia and in the region as well as in major developed countries in recent months, MARC sees an increasing risk of higher Overnight Policy Rate (OPR) despite maintaining its expectation of a 3.5 per cent rate for the rest of the year at this juncture.

The caveat, however, lies in the details of the second quarter GDP growth statistics, it said.

“Should the economy continues to post a higher-than-expected growth which would lead to a continuous rise in capacity utilisation of the manufacturing sector as well as the emergence of demand-pull factors in the economy, a monetary policy response is expected in the near future,” it added. — Bernama

A subconjunctival haemorrage is one cause of a red eye. It is caused by a small bleed behind the conjunctiva. It can look alarming, but it usually causes no symptoms and is usually harmless. The redness usually clears within two weeks.

What is a subconjunctival haemorrhage?

The conjunctiva is like a thin skin on the front of the eyeball. It covers the white part of the eye (the sclera) but does not cover the central part of the eye (the cornea).

In between the conjunctiva and the sclera run tiny blood vessels. If you look closely at the 'whites' of the eyes you may just be able to see a few tiny blood vessels.

If one of these tiny blood vessels bursts, it bleeds in between the conjunctiva and the sclera. This is called a subconjunctival haemorrhage (bleed).

What causes a subconjunctival haemorrhage?

In the vast majority of cases there is no apparent cause. Older people tend to have them most. Very occasionally an injury to the eye can cause one. Sometimes they occur after a coughing bout. Rarely, they are associated with high blood pressure. Rarely, if you have a generalised bleeding disorder you may have a subconjunctival haemorrhage in addition to other bleeding such as nose bleeds or easy bruising. For example, if you have haemophilia or if you take anticoagulant medication to 'thin the blood'.

What are the symptoms of a subconjunctival haemorrhage?

Usually none. You often do not notice it until someone points it out to you, or you see it in a mirror. It can be alarming as sometimes a large part of the white of the eye appears red and bloodshot. This is because the tiny haemorrhage spreads between the conjunctiva and the sclera in a thin film. It looks a lot worse than it really is! The central part of the eye, the cornea, is never affected, and so your vision is not affected. It is not uncommon for it to happen again at a later date.

What is the treatment for a subconjunctival haemorrhage?

No treatment is required. They usually fade and disappear within two weeks. (Like any other bruise the red colour will go a yellow/brown colour before it fades away.) Do mention to your doctor if:

You have not had your blood pressure checked recently.
You suspect an injury to your eye is the cause. (For example, a small bit of flying metal from a hammer, chisel, etc.)
You have noticed any other unusual bleeding or bruising of the body for no good reason.

Russia to launch its first weather satellite

MOSCOW, June 11 (RIA Novosti) - Russia is set to launch its first weather satellite, Meteor-M1, in the fourth quarter of 2008, the satellite's manufacturer said on Wednesday.

Russia currently has no weather satellites and gets its information from foreign sources.

The Russian state research and development company VNIIEM said its specialists had assembled the satellite and launched "the final stage of complex tests."

The 2.7 ton Meteor-M1 will be put into a 830 km (515 mile) orbit by a Soyuz-2 launch vehicle and a Frigate upper stage.

Its service life will be five to seven years.

Oil prices could stabilize at $120-130 - LUKoil official

MOSCOW, June 17 (RIA Novosti) - Oil prices may level out at $120-130 per barrel, a spokesman for Russia's largest private crude producer LUKoil said on Tuesday.

World crude prices reached almost $140 per barrel on Monday, rising from an average of $90.64 in February, $99.03 in March and $105.16 in April.

"I believe the prices will level off at $120-130 per barrel," Sergei Kukura, LUKoil's first vice president, said on the sidelines of an investor conference in Moscow.

He said he did not rule out that the prices could eventually reach $250 per barrel, referring to forecasts by analysts.

"We consider $130 per barrel to be a fair price," the official added.

This a chart on how we are related especially between Malay Malaysian, Malay Indonesian, Phillipine and etc etc in terms of language

So from the chart we can see that Malay Malaysian, Malay Brunei, Malay Singapore, Malay Cape Town and Malay Kemboja are the most related compare to others.

And all of them are most related to Malay Indonesia national language. Then, we r most related to Javanese Language compare to Tagalog.

That's show how had the Malay Language develop from Malay-Polynesian Language. It such a shame that we still have the mentality of "we r better than others...meanwhile we are like a family...a very strong relationship"

From my opinion, we can't find any pure language of Malay from the subdivision languages above as we had already absorbed many words from other languages and assimilated them until the words are not that recognizable as foreign languages but Malay language itself.

Yang bestnya jah itu untuk gaji bawah 18 tahun, diorg bg aud 8 sejam. Kalau atas 18 tahun gaji minimum bertambah. Anak aku dulu pernah dapat aud16 sejam masa tue umur dia 19 tahun… .kerja cuci bangunan je lak tue….bukan kerja besar. Kalau kat Malaysia, alahai

But while he could own any of his peers at Halo 3, the fresh-faced leader is turning his sights on cleaning up the town's politics by establishing an independent ethics commission and locking down campaign finance reporting.

"I'm sure the (city) council will work with me on these issues," he said. "I campaigned on this, and this is something I intend to push."

Tired of the same old political shenanigans, the townsfolk are backing their new man.

"He doesn't have the baggage. He doesn't owe anybody anything," said cafe owner Gary Armstrong. "It's sort of a fresh start for Muskogee."

People will think like "Russian language, r u serious??" but I don't mind them because from my opinion, learning language will benefit me in some ways in the future and it is not a waste. Fitna Indeed

Fitna...indeed

I have to admit I was disappointed when I watched this clip called Fitna. I had heard so much about the so long awaited film from that Dutch politician Geert Wilders, or better described as “freedon of speech” fighter. I’d heard so much about how that “fighter” was finaly about to expose the terror in the Quran. The film did not live to reach my expectation. Lame is the least to be described as.

Having said that and after reading lots of comments and discussions about the “extremely informative" film, as described by so many people on the internet who praised the freedom of speech, I decided, that I, too, wanna embrace the “freedom of speech” dogma and declare myself a devout fighter under its holy name.

My first mission is to “expose” all texts that call for death upon others. The first “verses” I got my hands on were from the US constitution that clearly indicates under chapter 18:

“….(b) A person who conspires to commit an offense, ….. shall be punished by death…”

And it gets better here:

“(d)…. If two or more persons conspire kidnap a Member of Congress or a
Member-of-Congress-elect ...shall be punished by death….”

So I here call for the ban of the US constitution and ask the "civilized" American to liberate themselves from this “hatred and uncivilized” rules to which they are bound to obey.

Alright, enough what this crap already! People who “oppose” the US, will cheer for the above excerpts and may even praise me for this discovery….just like my fellow “freedom of speech” fighters did to Mr. Wilders. Other people however, who were not blessed with ignorance, will dig further and find out that I simply cut and pasted “specific” parts of the US constitution that serve my goal, in this case, spreading hatred against Americans. To those, I salute you.

Believe it or not, so many people who have watched the film “Fitna” and applauded and cheered to the guy behind it, know nothing about the freedom of speech, even more, they are as far as anybody can be from being civilized.

I’m going to list the Quranic verses that Mr. Wilders used to demonstrate that Quran calls for terrorism.
Before I start, I need to mention that the translation he used is not accurate and somehow modified to fit his purpose", but that is the least he did.

He started with Surah 8, Verse 60 that reads:

“Make ready for them all thou canst of (armed) force and of horses tethered,
that thereby ye may dismay the enemy of Allah and your enemy, and others beside
them whom ye know not. Allah knoweth them. Whatsoever ye spend in the way of
Allah it will be repaid to you in full, and ye will not be wronged. (60) “

Then he goes on showing photos of September 11th crime. Well, many “civilized” people don’t know that the continuation of that verse reads:

“And if they incline to peace, incline thou also to it, and trust in
Allah....(61)
For those interested in knowing, the part of the Quranic verse
is teaching about “Rules of Engagements” in the times of war.

The second verse he used, Surah 4, verse 56, reads:

“ Lo! Those who disbelieve Our revelations, We shall expose them to the Fire. As
often as their skins are consumed We shall exchange them for fresh skins that
they may taste the torment. Lo! Allah is ever Mighty, Wise. “

Although the verse is clear and self-explanatory as it describes the punishment that GOD will bring upon those who disbelieve in him. It has in no why any teaching or instruction to the followers. Just plain narrative of what is going to happen in the Judgment Day. I doubt that the “God” of the Old Testament hasn’t touched on the subject…many times.

The third verse is the most interesting one, as he omitted words that don’t serve his aim from the same verse. This verse is Surah 47, verse 4 and in the film it reads:

“Therefore, when ye meet the unbelievers, smite at their necks and when ye have
caused a bloodbath among them....bind a bond firmly on them....”

Whereas the verse actually reads:

“Now when ye meet in battle those who disbelieve, then it is smiting of the
necks until, when ye have routed them, then making fast of bonds; and afterward
either grace or ransom till the war lay down its burdens. ”

Like if he is ever confronted with this, I believe his response will be as deep as: “Ooopsi”.

Moving on to his next verse, Surah 8, verse 39, which reads:

“They long that ye should disbelieve even as they disbelieve, that ye may be
upon a level (with them). So choose not friends from them till they forsake
their homes in the way of Allah; if they turn back (to enmity) then take them
and kill them wherever ye find them, and choose no friend nor hper from among
them, (89)”

I guess he got a phone call while working on this epic film so he totally forgot to put the continuation of that verse, Surah 4, verse 90, which reads:

“Except those who seek refuge with a people between whom and you there is a
covenant, or (those who) come unto you because their hearts forbid them to make
war on you or make war on their own folk. Had Allah willed He could have given
them power over you so that assuredly they would have fought you. So, if they
hold aloof from you and wage not war against you and offer you peace, Allah
alloweth you no way against them. (90)

Simply put, if they fight you, fight them back, if they declare war against you, do the same. If they offer peace, reciprocate! What’s so hard to understand about this?

The last verse he used, Surah 8 Verse 39, reads according to him:

“Fight them until there is no dissension and the religion is entirely Allah's"

While the verse actually reads:

“And fight them until persecution is no more, and religion is all for Allah. But
if they cease, then lo! Allah is Seer of what they do.”

Clear I guess, reciprocate when you are under persecution until they stop persecuting you!

Of course, he quoted many “radicals” Muslims throughout the film to support his falsification of the Quran. I’m pretty much sure that if one’s needs to get radical and racist remarks, probably with the exception of the Citizen of Utopia, a handful of them can be spotted within each and every society.

Last word:
I believe that faith does not need to be defended. The aim of my post is not to defend, but rather to clarify.

By the way, for those who don’t know Arabic, Fitna in an Arabic word that means “Creating division and hatred leading to commotion”. I had to admit that no other title could do a better job describing the content of this film.

Hammurabi] was the ruler who chiefly established the greatness of Babylon, the world's first metropolis. Many relics of Hammurabi's reign ([1795-1750 BC]) have been preserved, and today we can study this remarkable King....as a wise law-giver in his celebrated code. . .

[B]y far the most remarkable of the Hammurabi records is his code of laws, the earliest-known example of a ruler proclaiming publicly to his people an entire body of laws, arranged in orderly groups, so that all men might read and know what was required of them. The code was carved upon a black stone monument, eight feet high, and clearly intended to be reared in public view. This noted stone was found in the year 1901, not in Babylon, but in a city of the Persian mountains, to which some later conqueror must have carried it in triumph. It begins and ends with addresses to the gods. Even a law code was in those days regarded as a subject for prayer, though the prayers here are chiefly cursings of whoever shall neglect or destroy the law.

The code then regulates in clear and definite strokes the organization of society. The judge who blunders in a law case is to be expelled from his judgeship forever, and heavily fined. The witness who testifies falsely is to be slain. Indeed, all the heavier crimes are made punishable with death. Even if a man builds a house badly, and it falls and kills the owner, the builder is to be slain. If the owner's son was killed, then the builder's son is slain. We can see where the Hebrews learned their law of "an eye for an eye." These grim retaliatory punishments take no note of excuses or explanations, but only of the fact--with one striking exception. An accused person was allowed to cast himself into "the river," the Euphrates. Apparently the art of swimming was unknown; for if the current bore him to the shore alive he was declared innocent, if he drowned he was guilty. So we learn that faith in the justice of the ruling gods was already firmly, though somewhat childishly, established in the minds of men.

Yet even with this earliest set of laws, as with most things Babylonian, we find ourselves dealing with the end of things rather than the beginnings. Hammurabi's code was not really the earliest. The preceding sets of laws have disappeared, but we have found several traces of them, and Hammurabi's own code clearly implies their existence. He is but reorganizing a legal system long established.

Thus I disliked the current state of people and looked down on the weak determination of students nowadays. And to Allah is all praise.
